Srinagar, June 4 -- Peoples Democratic Party leader and MLA Waheed Parra on Wednesday hit out at the J&K government for failing to get any concessions from the Union government. Parra was responding to Centre's decision granting reservation and domicile rules for Ladakh, reserving 85 per cent jobs for locals and setting a criterion of 15 years of uninterrupted stay in the Union Territory for domicile status.
The two Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir were carved out from erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state following the scrapping of Article 370 in August 2019. In Jammu and Kashmir UT anyone who has resided for 15 years can get the privilege of the domicile. This rule applies retrospectively in case of Jammu and Kashmir UT.
