Mumbai, Dec. 17 -- Former Maharashtra Congress president and MLA Nana Patole has demanded that announcements should be made in Marathi on all flights arriving in the state on the ground that it would help preserve and promote the state's linguistic and cultural heritage.
In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Patole referred to the union government's recent decision to accord classical language status to Marathi, describing it as a historic step that has honoured the sentiments of Marathi-speaking people across the country. He said the decision recognises Marathi's rich literary, cultural and historical legacy.
