Shimla, Dec. 22 -- : An alleged assault involving a patient and a doctor at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), the largest government hospital in Himachal Pradesh, triggered public outrage on Monday after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The hospital administration has initiated an inquiry, the police have registered a case, and the accused doctor has been removed from duty pending investigation.
According to official sources, the incident occurred around noon in the Pulmonary and Chest Department. The patient, Arjun Panwar (also identified as Arjun Singh in records), 36, a resident of Kupvi tehsil in Shimla district, had arrived for an endoscopy.
