Mumbai, June 19 -- Taking lessons from the Thane tragedy, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has banned passengers from standing at the door with bags in Mumbai local trains, an official said here on Thursday.

On June 9, eight passengers fell from moving trains near Mumbra railway station in Thane, leading to the death of four commuters.

Following the incident, the Railway authorities have introduced various safety measures to manage the footboard crowding and regulate passenger behaviour.
