Kolkata, Nov. 12 -- Former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee, who walked out of jail on Tuesday after over three years in custody, has expressed his intention to attend the upcoming winter session of the state Assembly - a move that could make the Trinamool Congress (TMC) uneasy.

Chatterjee, suspended by the party and no longer a minister but still the MLA from Behala West, has told close aides that he wishes to take part in the Assembly proceedings as an independent legislator.

What has added to the discomfort in the ruling camp is a letter Chatterjee sent soon after his release to Chief Minister and TMC chairperson Mamata Banerjee, questioning the legality of his suspension from the party.
