Chandigarh, Dec. 19 -- The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday declined to grant immediate relief to detained Member of Parliament Amritpal Singh, effectively ruling out his participation in the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament.

Amritpal Singh, who is lodged in Assam's Dibrugarh Central Jail under the National Security Act, had sought temporary parole to attend the session. However, the High Court observed that with the Winter Session coming to an end, the request no longer served any practical purpose.

A division bench led by Chief Justice Sheel Nagu noted that even if the court were to issue directions in favour of the petitioner, executing such an order within the limited time available would be unrealistic. The court pointed...
