New Delhi, Dec. 3 -- A parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance has called for a sweeping overhaul of India's statistical architecture, recommending that the National Statistical Commission (NSC) be granted statutory authority and empowered as the nodal body for all official data standards.
Currently, India's statistical architecture is de-centralised, multi-tiered, coordinated by Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) at the national level, which includes the National Statistical Office (NSO).
