New Delhi, Feb. 2 -- A parliamentary delegation led-by Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Zambia Nelly Butete Mutti, called on Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at the Parliament House Complex here on Thursday.

Welcoming the delegation, Birla congratulated Mutti on being elected the first woman Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia.

Referring to India as the mother of democracy, the Speaker said that India is the largest and most vibrant democracy in the world where more than 90 crore voters elect 545 Members of the Lok Sabha.

He said that in the House, public representatives give voice to the hopes, aspirations and concerns of the people.
