New Delhi, Feb. 11 -- In a significant welfare-oriented decision, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the expansion of the definition of 'family' for the purpose of allotment of Government accommodation to Service Officers.
The move is expected to provide relief and greater flexibility to officers in managing their family responsibilities.
Under the revised definition, 'family' will now include parents, dependent siblings, and legally adopted children, in addition to the existing coverage of spouse and dependent children or step-children.
The expanded scope is set to benefit all Service Officers across the Armed Forces, including Single Women Officers who reside with and support their parents.
