Washington, July 2 -- Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS News, has agreed to pay US President Donald Trump $16 million to settle a lawsuit over the editing of a "60 Minutes" interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris, the company has said in an emailed press release circulated in US media.

In October 2024, Trump, then a Republican presidential candidate, filed a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS News, alleging election interference due to the network's refusal to release an unedited version of his Democratic rival Kamala Harris's interview. He later raised the claim to $20 billion. On June 25, The Wall Street Journal newspaper, citing sources, reported that a mediator proposed a $20 million settlement.
