New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- Conceived nearly a decade ago, the National University of Disability Studies and Rehabilitation Sciences (UDSRS) proposed by the Centre in Kamrup, Assam, is yet to see the light of the day.
The objective behind setting up the university is to impart advanced disability studies and strengthen rehabilitation services across the country.
Taking exception to the delay, a Parliamentary Standing Committee has asked the Centre to expedite the long-pending project, announced way back in 2015-16.
In its report tabled in the Lok Sabha recently, the panel headed by MP PC Mohan emphasised the "urgent need" to accelerate the university's establishment, citing its critical role in advancing education, research, and rehabilitation...
