Jalna, Sept. 25 -- Heavy rains in parts of Jalna district of Maharashtra today caused the Godavari river to overflow, flooding several villages and disrupting normal life.

In some areas, river water entered houses and left citizens trapped. Against this backdrop, Guardian Minister Pankaja Munde visited flood-hit villages to assess the situation and meet affected residents.

Munde toured Golegaon in Partur taluka, Bhendala and Kumbhar Pimpalgaon, Machhindranath Chincholi in Ghansawangi taluka, and Sukhapuri and Shahapur in Ambad taluka. She inspected the damage and assured people of immediate relief. She said that panchnamas are already underway, but the government is working to ensure immediate aid for affected citizens and farmers.
