Kolhapur, Aug. 20 -- The water level of Panchaganga river is close to danger level due to the heavy rainfall across Kolhapur district, particularly in its western parts
At Rajaram Bandhara (weir), the river level was recorded at 40.5 feet at 1:00 pm today, rapidly rising towards the danger mark of 43 feet. Having already crossed the alert level of 39 feet earlier this morning, the situation is turning severe in the district.
A total of 79 bandharas (weirs), including Rajaram, Survey, Rui, Ichalkaranji, Terwad, Shirol, and Shignapur, are overflowing, cutting off direct road connectivity between several villages and their respective tehsil headquarters.
