New York, Aug. 30 -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been barred from attending the UN General Assembly session in New York next month, following the US revoking his visa and that of 80 other Palestinian officials.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has accused the Palestinians of undermining global efforts for peace, due to their insistence on seeking "the unilateral recognition of a conjectural Palestinian state", reports Financial Times.
The cancellation of their visas was welcomed by Israel, with the country's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar expressing his gratitude to Rubio.
