Peshawar, Nov. 19 -- Pakistan's religion-based political group, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) denounced the country's newly-passed highly controversial 27th Amendment, calling it a "conspiracy against the Islamic Constitution" and warned that it was detrimental to national interests.

As per Dawn, the JUI-F's critique came in the midst of a meeting of the party's provincial executive committee in Peshawar, where the Jamiat's provincial general secretary, Senator Maulana Attaul Haq Dervish, briefed members on the amendment, which he said had been passed through the required legal procedures.
