Islamabad, Nov. 9 -- Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, is set to assume the newly created position of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), a post designed to tweak the existing mechanisms for coordination among all three services, following the ratification of the 27th Amendment by a joint parliamentary committee, comprising lawmakers from both the Senate and National Assembly, reports Geo News.

The amendment, presented in Parliament after Cabinet approval, introduces major changes to Article 243 of the Constitution, which governs all military related matters.

Under the new framework, both the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces will be appointed by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister.
