Bengaluru, Aug. 19 -- Padma Shri Awardee and Environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka today lodged a complaint with Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara alleging that more than 200 trees she had planted have been cut down.

She has accused Belur Tahsildar Sridhar Kankanawadi of being responsible for the largescale destruction of trees in Belur taluk, Hassan district.

In her complaint, Thimmakka stated that she had planted these trees behind the Belur Tahsildar's office, and now they have been felled, which she termed a grave offense.
