London, July 23 -- Black Sabbath's frontman and the pioneer of heavy metal Ozzy Osbourne, who was popularly known by his stage name of the 'Prince of Darkness', has died aged 76 after a prolonged battle with Parkinson's disease.

Announcing his death yesterday, his family released a statement saying that "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

He was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019, reported Variety.
