Mohali, Aug. 6 -- Two workers died and at least three were injured in a big explosion at an oxygen plant in Mohali's industrial area today, police said.
The blast, which occurred at a factory operated by Hitech Industries, caused widespread panic in the area, as the impact shook walls of nearby homes and damaged the facility's roof.
The explosion took place while oxygen cylinders were being loaded at the plant, according to initial reports. The cause of the blast remains unclear, and police have launched an investigation.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Harsimran Bal confirmed the two fatalities, noting that the explosion was so powerful that it left the victims' bodies severely mutilated.
