Hobart, Jan. 27 -- Mitch Owen's blistering century paved the way for the Hobart Hurricanes to claim their maiden KFC Big Bash League (BBL) title, defeating Sydney Thunder by seven wickets in a historic final at Ninja Stadium here on Monday.
Owen smashed an explosive 108 off just 42 balls, matching the record for the fastest century in BBL history with a 39-ball knock, an achievement shared with Craig Simmons.
The 15,706-strong spectators was treated to an unforgettable display as Owen blasted 11 sixes, setting a new benchmark for power-hitting in the BBL.
