New Delhi, Jan. 29 -- Warning that Artificial Intelligence is fast becoming a geostrategic asset, the Economic Survey 2025-26 has cautioned that overdependence on foreign AI systems could expose India to technological and geopolitical vulnerabilities.
The observations were made in the chapter 'Evolution of the AI Ecosystem in India: The Way Forward', of the survey presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament on Thursday.
The Survey notes that control over advanced chips, computing infrastructure and frontier AI models is increasingly concentrated, creating a "fundamental asymmetry" in which only a few countries and firms shape global standards, pricing and technological direction.
