Srinagar, Oct. 1 -- Over a dozen spectators were briefly detained and later released after counseling for allegedly not standing during the national anthem at the final of the J&K Police Martyrs' Memorial Football Tournament in Srinagar last evening, officials said.

The Lieutenant Governor was the chief guest at the event.

The anthem was played live by a band.

Officials said over a dozen spectators were detained for not standing during the national anthem.

They were counseled and later allowed to leave.

"No charges were filed," an officer said.
