Mangaluru, March 6 -- A suspected case of food poisoning at the district jail here left over fifty inmates hospitalised at Wenlock Hospital on Thursday, after they complained of severe stomach pain, loose motion, and vomiting.
Director General of Police (DGP) Prisons and Correctional Services, Malini Krishnamurthy, rushed to Wenlock Hospital to assess the situation and interact with the affected inmates.
Providing an update on their condition, she said, "Fifty-five prisoners were taken ill and admitted to Wenlock Hospital. All are currently stable and receiving treatment, with about ten inmates ready for discharge. The prisoner who was in serious condition yesterday has now stabilised.
