Hyderabad, Jan. 31 -- As many as 5,582 children were rescued across Telangana under Operation Smile-XII, a month-long special drive aimed at eradicating child labour and tracing missing children, Additional Director General of Police, State Women's Safety Wing, Charu Sinha, said on Saturday.
In a statement, Charu Sinha said the operation was conducted from January 1 to 31 under the guidance of the union Home Ministry, with the participation of 121 sub-divisional police teams and around 605 police personnel. The drive was carried out in close coordination with the Women and Child Welfare, Labour and Health departments, Child Welfare Committees and various NGOs.
