Tokyo, July 2 -- About 457 earthquakes have occurred off Tokara Islands in southern Japan since June 25, according to data from the Japan Meteorological Agency, compiled by Sputnik.

The quakes hit mostly near the collection of islands known as Toshima Village, as well as near the Amami Islands.

The earthquakes' magnitudes have ranged from 2-5, the depth of the epicenters has varied from 10 to 30 kilometers (about 6-18 miles).

The strongest (magnitude 5) earthquake hit the Tokara Islands on Wednesday morning, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

No tsunami warnings were issued and there have been no casualties or damage.
