Hyderabad, Oct. 19 -- union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy welcomed the surrender of hundreds of Naxalites who have chosen to abandon violence and rejoin mainstream life under the government's Operation Kagar, aimed at completely eradicating Naxalism in India by March 31, 2026.

In a statement here on Sunday, Kishan Reddy noted that over the past three days alone, more than 300 Naxalites, most of them Telugu, have surrendered, calling it a significant development.

"While many districts have remained underdeveloped due to Naxalism for decades, it is heartening that, as the country celebrates Diwali, these regions are moving from darkness to light," he said.
