Kolkata, Nov. 28 -- Amid growing public unease over the scale and pace of West Bengal's ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer has revealed that more than 27.71 lakh entries have been flagged so far during the digital verification process.

Senior officials said the flagged entries include voters recorded as deceased, individuals who could not be traced during verification, people who appear to have shifted residence, and entries identified as potential duplicates.

"These findings are substantial but consistent with what one would expect during such an extensive matching exercise," a senior official in the CEO's establishment told UNI.
