Cairo, Feb. 15 -- Lebanese authorities have detained more than 25 people in connection with an attack on a convoy of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad al-Hajjar said on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the attack on the peacekeepers and said the attackers would be punished.
"This attack is a crime, and we will pursue the perpetrators with full seriousness to ensure their arrest. We have more than 25 detainees and we will verify which of the detainees were involved [in the attack]," al-Hajjar was quoted by Lebanon's LBCI broadcaster as saying.
