Nagpur, Dec. 12 -- The Maharashtra government on Thursday announced a major relief for Mumbaikars living in buildings without Occupation Certificates (OCs). Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde unveiled the "Improved Bhogavata Abhay Yojana", aimed at regularizing over 20,000 buildings across the city.
The scheme is expected to benefit more than one million residents.
Addressing the Legislative Assembly, Shinde said the move will ease long-standing financial and legal hardships faced by citizens due to minor deviations from approved building plans.
Without OCs, residents have been subjected to higher property taxes, water charges and sewerage fees.
