Bengaluru, Oct. 31 -- Over 15,000 girls have gone missing in Karnataka in the last two years, while more than 8,500 women have faced atrocities, union Minister Shobha Karandlaje said here today, accusing the Congress-led government of turning the state and Bengaluru into "criminal cities" where women's safety is under threat.

Speaking to the media, Karandlaje said Karnataka was once known as a peaceful state and Bengaluru as a garden city, attracting people from other states for its safety and facilities. "Earlier, people felt secure here. But today, under Congress leadership, Karnataka and Bengaluru have become unsafe. Girls are going missing, women are facing violence, and men are also being targeted," she said.
