Lucknow, July 21 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has gone beyond just arresting criminals through its zero-tolerance policy and effective courtroom advocacy, it is ensuring their conviction too.

Launched a year ago on the CM's instructions, Operation Conviction has become a decisive initiative for swift and strict punishment in serious crimes.

In just one year, over 15,600 criminals have been convicted for heinous offences like murder, robbery, kidnapping, and POCSO Act violations. During this period, 47,149 serious cases were identified, with 19,584 disposed of in court, leading to the sentencing of 15,641 accused.
