Moscow, Aug. 2 -- More than 140 aftershocks were recorded by seismologists in the past 24 hours, following the massive earthquake that struck off Russia's Kamchatka peninsula on July 30, the regional branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry informed.

"Over the past 24 hours, 146 aftershocks with magnitudes ranging from 3.2 to 6.2 occurred. In populated areas, more than 20 of them were felt with an intensity of 2 to 5 points. The period of the summary is from 00.00 Moscow time on 01.08. [21:00 GMT on Thursday] to 00.00 Moscow time on 02.08," the emergencies ministry said on social media.
