Shillong, Feb. 16 -- Meghalaya Governor Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar today said that the installation of boundary pillars along the Assam-Meghalaya border is a significant step towards implementing Memorandum of Understanding between Assam and Meghalaya for six areas of difference.

The process of demarcation of the boundary pillars is ongoing, the Governor said in his customary address to members of the Meghalaya Assembly, marking the commencement of the budget session for financial year 2026-27. He said 54 pillars have been erected in Hahim area and 83 in Gizang area.
