New Delhi, Aug. 12 -- Over 1.11 crore and 64 lakhs people respectively have been diagnosed for hypertension and diabetes under the central health programme in the last six months till June this year, the government told Rajya Sabha today.

The identified patients are being treated for their conditions, Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

"Health is a state subject. However, Union Health Ministry provides technical and financial support to States and Union Territories across the country under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD) as part of the National Health Mission (NHM).
