Hyderabad, July 18 -- The state government's flagship 'Vanamahotsava' program is gaining strong momentum across Telangana, with lakhs of saplings being planted daily in villages as part of a massive green drive.

Spearheaded by the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development (PRRD) Department, this year's ambitious target is to plant 7 crore saplings-surpassing last year's impressive milestone of 6.90 crore.

As of Friday, officials reported that 1.7 crore saplings have already been planted, reaching 39 per cent of the overall target. To accelerate the pace, PRRD Minister Dr Danasari Anasuya Seethakka has directed officials to intensify efforts.
