Bhubaneswar, Aug. 21 -- The Orissa High Court has declined to quash the rape case against a senior police officer and directed the accused to look for alternatives within law premises, including filing an application before the trial court. Saubhagya Kumar Swain, the then Inspector-In-Charge of Government Railway Station Bhubaneswar, was accused of allegedly raping one of his subordinates. A case was registered against the police officer under sections 376 (punishment for rape), 354 (outraging the modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult a woman) on January 3, 2018.
