Bhubaneswar, Nov. 1 -- The Orissa High Court has pulled up the Superintendent of Police Berhampur for making a public statement about an election petition which is under trial stating that "why such conduct shall not be treated as contempt of this court".

Manoj Kumar Panda, a voter of Berhampur assembly constituency, in an affidavit apprised the court that police personnel in plain clothes forcibly picked him up in a police vehicle and took him to barrack where they detained him and interrogated him about the election petition, particularly asking him why he had filed the plea against K Anil Kumar, a sitting MLA of Berhampur.
