Lucknow, March 20 -- A political row has erupted in Uttar Pradesh over the film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, with opposition leaders accusing it of distorting facts, glorifying demonetisation, and promoting a divisive narrative by linking a character based on slain mafia Atiq Ahmed to Pakistan's ISI.
Congress MP Imran Masood dismissed the film as "rubbish" and questioned its credibility. He criticised the portrayal of demonetisation, calling it "not a masterstroke but a decision that harmed the economy," and said earlier criticisms by Rahul Gandhi are now proving correct.
He added that if films are meant to glorify leaders, they should depict figures like Indira Gandhi and her handling of global leaders such as Richard Nixon.
