Gorakhpur, April 27 -- Urban Development and Energy Minister of Uttar Pradesh AK Sharma on Sunday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to implement the law of One Nation One Election in the entire country in the national interest and in the interest of the countrymen, but the opposition does not want to see it get implemented.
Addressing the Prabuddh Varg Sammelan organised on One Nation One Election, the Minister said that the system of one nation one election was in force in India till 1967. "From 1995 to 2025, elections are being held every year somewhere in the country. Assembly elections were held in the state in 2022 and local body elections in 2023," he said.
