Aizawl, Dec. 22 -- Citing encouraging results and the need to sustain pressure on drug networks, the Mizoram government and the Young Mizo Association (YMA), the most infuential civil society in the state, today decided to extend 'Operation Jericho', the ongoing intensive crackdown on drug trafficking along the Myanmar border, till March 2026.

The decision was taken at a meeting of central YMA leaders and key officials, convened by Home Minister K. Sapdanga and Excise and Narcotics Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar. Operation Jericho, launched on September 1, was originally scheduled to conclude on December 31 this year.
