New Delhi, March 29 -- India on Saturday sent an 80-member strong team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for rescue operations in Myanmar where over 1,000 people are reported to have died in a massive 7.7 magnitude quake that struck the neighbouring country a day ago.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar posted on X that the team is headed for capital Nay Pyi Taw and would assist in the rescue operations.

India today launched Operation Brahma to send relief assistance to Myanmar.
