Chennai, March 30 -- In a tragic incident, a 32-year-old woman devotee of neighbouring Thanjavur district died and two other injured, when a portion of cement ceiling of the roof collapsed and fell on them at the Mandapam belonging to the famous Goddess Samayapuram Mariamman temple in Tiruchi district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

The Mandapam was built for the benefit of visiting pilgirms to stay and rest and it was located in the Sannathi street close to the ancient temple, which used to attract a large number of devotees, that would swell during weekends and on auspicious occasions and during the months of Tamil month Aadi and Thai.
