Gadchiroli, Feb. 6 -- An encounter between police forces and Naxalites took place in the dense forest area of Bhamragad, on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border, police said on Thursday. One Naxalite was killed in the exchange of fire, while a C-60 commando sustained injuries.

According to police sources, security forces recovered an AK-47 rifle, an SLR and other sophisticated weapons, along with Naxalite material from the encounter site.

Two Naxalite camps were also destroyed during the operation.

Police said they received specific intelligence inputs on the evening of February 3 about the movement of Naxalites belonging to Company No. 10 along with cadres from Chhattisgarh in the Phodevada forest area.
