Kozhikode, Sept. 20 -- A 59 -year-old person, Raheem, of Chavakkad from Thrissur district, who had been undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (KMCH) since September 17, succumbed to amoebic meningitis on Friday night.
The local residents found Raheem in an unconscious stage at Kozhikode and shifted to Beach Hospital. Later, he was moved to KMCH after being diagnosed with amoebic meningitis and admitted at the critical unit for the last two days.
The total death cases have risen to seven within two months at KMCH, while 10 more patients from Malabar region are undergoing treatment for the same disease in the district. Out of this, nine have been admitted at KMCH and one at a private hospital at Kozhikode.
