Ch. Sambhajinagar, Jan. 2 -- One passenger was killed and 31 others narrowly escaped after a private travel bus caught fire following a high-speed collision with a truck on the Samruddhi Mahamarg in the early hours of Friday.
The incident occurred around 3:01 AM near the Maliwara toll plaza. The bus, belonging to Sairam Travels (MH 19 CX 3015) and headed towards Mumbai, rammed into a truck (CG 04 M 8711) on Highway 463. The impact was so severe that the bus immediately burst into flames.
Upon receiving the alert, fire brigade teams from Padampura and Kanchanwadi rushed to the spot under the guidance of Chief Fire Officer Ashok Khandikar. After considerable effort, they managed to extinguish the blaze.
