Chennai, July 30 -- A funeral procession turned tragic for a 25-year-old man, who was killed
when crackers burst at Kilkuppam Velur village near Ulundurpet this evening.
The deceased was identified as Moorthy of Perampattu village.
Six others were hurt in the incident and they were shifted to hospital for treatment.
As part of the procession, large amount of crackers where brought in a gunny bg,
when a spark from one of the burst crackers, fell on it triggering the explosion.
Police have shifted the body of the deceased to the government hospital for autopsy
and are investigating.
Bursting of crackers during funeral procession was being followed across the State
for years to ensure that the soul rests in peace.
