Wardha, Dec. 3 -- : A civilian was killed on Wednesday morning in an explosion at the Pulgaon Ammunition Depot in Maharashtra's Wardha district during the disposal of obsolete ordnance, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Bhalaji Tumdam(40), a resident of Kelapur village.
According to the officials, Sandeep suffered fatal injuries when an unexploded fragment detonated while he was reportedly attempting to collect scrap metal from the disposal site.
The depot, operated by the Ministry of Defence, routinely destroys outdated ammunition by burying and detonating it in controlled blasts.
