Bareilly, Dec. 8 -- A wedding celebration in Shivpuri village under the Sirouli police station area turned tragic on Sunday night when a celebratory gunshot killed a guest.
The incident occurred during the bride's farewell ceremony after the nikah, leading to panic and chaos among the attendees, police said on Monday.
According to police reports, the wedding of Abrar's daughter was being held at the village community hall. The groom's procession had arrived from Sithoura village in Subhashnagar, Bareilly.
Around 9 pm, as the bride's farewell rituals were underway, the groom's friend, belonging to another community, pulled out a country-made pistol (tamancha) and attempted to fire in celebration.
