Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 21 -- The Kerala government has announced a special Onam gift of Rs 1,000 each for 52,864 elderly Scheduled Tribe (ST) beneficiaries across the state.
The assistance will be provided to individuals aged 60 years and above, excluding those receiving pensions from the central government, State government or semi-government institutions.
A total of Rs 5.28 crore has been sanctioned from the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) to meet the expenditure for this year's "Onasammanam" distribution.
A decision in this regard was taken in a cabinet meeting.
