Srinagar, Sept. 29 -- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have shown patience regarding the restoration of statehood, and the Centre should not take undue advantage of this.

He said that they would continue to pursue their statehood goal through peaceful means.

When asked whether the situation in Jammu and Kashmir could escalate like in Ladakh, Omar said, "It should not arise. It does not take long for the situation to worsen. We do not want the blood of innocent people to be shed here again. We will continue to speak in a peaceful manner.
